"As Above, So Below" is meant to be the shift in mood for the rest of the album. The song starts in a major key representing the "above," but in the middle it shifts to minor representing the "below." After that shift the rest of the album becomes darker. The name itself was inspired by the title for an "Astronomy Picture of the Day" that showed a city being reflected clouds causing what looked like auroras, while star trails were illuminated above.
